Malikah is a community-based organization in New York City that seeks to empower Muslim women through leadership development, community building, and advocacy. The organization aims to provide a safe space for Muslim women to come together, share experiences, and support each other in their personal and professional lives.

Job Description:

The Program and Operations Fellow will be responsible for developing and implementing programs and initiatives to increase member participation of Muslim women in the organization. The successful candidate will work closely with the Executive Director and other staff members to develop and implement strategies to engage Muslim women in the New York City area through events, safety programming, and base-building opportunities.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement programs and initiatives to increase member participation of Muslim women in the organization

  • Collaborate with the Executive Director and other staff members to develop and implement strategies to engage Muslim women in the New York City area

  • Organize events and activities to promote the organization and its mission to the community

  • Build relationships with community leaders, organizations, and institutions to promote collaboration and partnerships

  • Develop and manage a volunteer program to support the organization's initiatives

  • Manage the organization's social media presence and communications to engage and inform members and the community (supporting designers and interns)

  • Plan and execute fundraising activities to support the organization's initiatives and programs

  • Develop and maintain a database of members, volunteers, and partners to support the organization's outreach and engagement efforts

  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the organization's programs and initiatives and make recommendations for improvements

  • Manages several programs end to end programs like the National Muslim Women’s Summit

  • Develop and manage client intake form

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in social work, nonprofit management, or a related field

  • At least three years of experience in community organizing, program management, or a related field

  • Experience working with Muslim women and understanding of the challenges and barriers they face

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with staff, volunteers, and community partners

  • Experience in event planning, social media management, and fundraising

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and social media platforms

  • Social work and/or direct service background is preferred
